FAQS

What forms of payment does Renegade take?

Credit card or HSA debit card. All transactions are processed securely via the client portal. You can all at once for a package or ask for a payment plan to be set up for you.

Will my health insurance cover nutritionist services?

No. Currently billing to insurance is not something we can offer. If you have an HSA account you can use an HSA debit card to pay.

What is the difference between a Registered Dietitian and a Board Certified Nutrition Specialist?

First, let me say there can be a cross-over. A Registered Dietitian (RD) has a bachelor's degree, has completed supervised hours, and passed a board exam. Typical dietitians are taught nutrition based on national standards. Some RDs have extra training in functional medicine.

A functional nutritionist can come with various titles and letters behind their name, including an RD. A Board Certified Nutrition Specialist requires a Masters in nutrition, 1,000 supervised hours and passing the board exam.

How long will it take me to see results?

It depends. No one likes this answer but it's important to understand that every person has their own timeline. Clients with uncomplicated GI issues can find full relief and establish sustainable changes within 3 months. More complicated and multisystem cases can take much longer. My goal is to first guide you through the changes that will move the needle the most. Most clients notice changes within the first month but making sustainable changes takes time.

Can you help me lose weight?

Weight loss is not my primary focus. There are various reasons why the body holds onto and gains weight. A simple calorie deficit may not allow for weight loss if there are underlying issues. If you want the number on the scale to go down then I am not the right person for you to work with. If you want to change body composition (increase muscle and decrease fat), improve energy and feel more confident in a way that is sustainable then I am your person. Sustainable lifestyle and food changes take time, patience, and grace.

Do you do functional medicine testing?

Yes, depending on the state that you are in.

The most common functional labs I order:

  • DUTCH hormone testing

  • GI MAP gut testing

  • OATS mitochondria and neurotransmitters

  • MYCOTOX mold exposure

Functional labs are only recommended if a deeper investigation is required to appropriately target clients' needs.
